This is the key leadership role within our organisation and we want to attract a highly capable professional, with a proven track record, who can set high expectations, model our values and work in collaboration with others to promote the best interests of our district.
Our ideal candidate will bring a distinct sense of purpose to the role; backed up with the communication and leadership skills to clearly articulate this to others and build momentum behind our strategic and operational priorities. Your clarity of intention will be complemented by a deft and adaptable approach to different scenarios and settings. Good people management skills will be paramount, enabling you to get the best from colleagues and to support their professional and personal development.
It’s important that you can balance the demands of the here and now with longer-term priorities, ensuring the council is making the strategic connections across our region that will enable us to tap into emerging economic opportunities. You should already be experienced in delivering through partnerships and be able to work different perspectives and priorities to identify common ground.
You should have a good appreciation of place shaping initiatives, opportunities and potential pitfalls – and a clear sense of the strategic tools and levers that can influence this agenda.
We’re looking for someone with good commercial awareness, who can make the most of our resources and support the organisation in becoming self-sufficient, building on an already successful investment strategy. And you’ll be expert in translating overarching strategies into practical action at service level – so that residents can see meaningful outcomes and improvements.
